Back to the Blog

III'MM BBBAAACCCKKKK EEERRRRBBOODDDY!!!

Did you miss me? Were you worried about me? Did you check my blog on the reg looking for new posts? Oh... you didn't? Well don't tell me that because I am just going to pretend you did. It has been about three months since my last post and a lot has happened. While I have been pretty busy, I am going to be honest here - the real reason why I haven't kept up with my blog is because I've been sleeping a lot lately. Like almost every day during Jack's nap and then pretty much as soon as he goes to bed. Think that's weird? Well you if you do that's probably because you've never been pregnant...

YUP - you read that correctly - I am with child. And this child has been making me so tired. (Like worse than Hannah the time she had mono for months and no one knew) But now that I have finally moved into the glorious second trimester I am ready to ween myself off of naps and tell the world (I like to pretend that's how many people read my blog) our news. We are so excited for the new babe, who will be arriving at the end of March. Everyone is allowed to pray for us to have a girl. We have not broken the news to Jack yet, but not because he won't be excited. Actually the problem is that he would be too excited. If that doesn't make sense then let me explain - a few months ago we ordered him a bike online and made the mistake of telling him immediately. For the next 6-8 business days Jack asked about the bike non-stop and would get really upset each time we told him that he had to wait a few more days. So when we finally let Jack know, I'll let ya'll know.

Obvs the baby is the biggest news right now, but lots of other blog worthy stuff has happened in the past three months too. Am I going to blog about it all? Well I'm going to try. So last time I blogged I was in Texas visiting family and spending time with Hannah before she left on her mission. I was able to blog about Hannah's Farewell Sunday and then about my weird baby-mugging obsession but lots more happened. I shall show you.

We were in Texas for over two weeks and it was so stupid hot. Does that bother Jack? Unfortunately for me (or anyone he wants to play with) it does not.

I realized my sister-in-law Lindsay and I have no pictures together - I mean besides group wedding photos - so we threw these together. We are idiots.

Then about 3 days later Sister Hannah Hagee came to Utah for her final days before entering the MTC. She was the first guest to stay in our new house and we had a blast. She played nonstop with Jack, met up with a few friends, and ate at all her Provo favorites.

Everyone should try Baby Mugging, obviously babies aren't even required. The best part though, are the pictures that don't come out exactly like you planned...

Father's Day

Father's Day 'round these parts is a big deal - but especially this year. Lemme splain.

Remember my sister Hannah? And how she's leaving for the Philippines soon? In our church, whenever someone is about to leave on their mission they are given the opportunity to speak during a Sunday service. Cool, huh? Well the week she was scheduled to speak was June 16 - Father's Day.

As you can imagine, I was not going to miss this. So a little Texas trip was planned. (The that's kind of relative - a two week trip to Texas might not be "little" to everyone) Although I tried my hardest, I couldn't convince Garrett to come too. Between our trip to Cabo, our upcoming move, and having to pay for Jack's plane ticket I didn't have much of a chance. Stupid budget, you ruin everything.

Well since I knew we wouldn't be with Garrett on actual Father's Day, we had our own Father's Day the week before. Garrett insisted on no gifts, but that's just a request I cannot complete. Sors (but not sors). So instead of adding to Garrett's Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers T-shirt collection, Jack and I put together a "World's Greatest Pop" plater (and I totally stole the idea off Pinterest). I would have gone a little fancier on the sign, but I had already packed all my crafting supplies, so Jack's crayons and sketch book had to do. But lesbehonest, Garrett wouldn't have even noticed either way.

And turns out most every food that has the word 'pop' in it is candy. So yes, we had candy for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't judge - it was a holiday, okay!?

Is it bad that I didn't actually get any pictures of Garrett on Father's Day? Whoops.

Here's one for good measure.

Fast forward a week.

Now it's real Father's Day and Hannah's farewell in church. Our morning was sups crazy town. Somehow we all managed to get to church early, save lots of seats and look fabulous (z-snap). Billy and Lauren performed an ah-maz-ing musical number and then beautiful Hannie got up and gave a talk that left everyone in tears. She was wonderful. Like amazing. Those lucky little Filipinos.

That night, after the craziness (and let's make sure to put major emphasis on the crazy) died down, we  celebrated our favorite Guh-Guh. He's kind of the bomb and we made sure he knew it. There were cards, presents, and Dairy Queen to-go! (I'm sure you're unfamiliar with what that is... it's just how Jennifer insists on ordering quarts of ice cream at the Dairy Queen drive-thru. Don't worry, it confuses the Dairy Queen employees too). It was pretty much a wonderful day.

G

We recently had another visitor. His name is G. I know, I know, you wish you were cool enough to go by that name. Sorry - you ain't.

Okay I lied (a little). His name is actually Howard and he is Garrett's Dad. But when he became a grandpa he decided to just go by 'G.' In Jack speak, it's "Geeeeeee." He came to visit for a week and it was great. Jack loved it - especially because G brought him a McDonald's hash brown every morning when he went on his coffee run. Man, can we talk about how delicious those things are?

Since Jack is the boss, G's visit consisted of us doing all the things he loves. We hit up the swings, the pool, and the park. We also fed the fish at Bridal Veil Falls, visited the Thanksgiving Point Farm, used our soon-to-be expired Pass of All Passes at the batting cages/arcade, and cheered on Gar at his softball game. Well "cheered on" is a little generous - mostly we chased Jack around and watched him dump a melted snow cone on himself.

Unfortunately, G did have to go home and life had to go back to normal. Well Jack and I pretty much do the same stuff, but Garrett had to go back to working. Lame. We loved having him as a guest (and his complimentary babysitting didn't hurt either). At least next time he visits he won't have to sleep on our living room floor!
