Just Keep Swimming

Lately it feels like that is just the theme in our home. We've spend most of our days at the pool and then our nights watching Finding Nemo. If you haven't seen the movie you can either come over to our apartment between seven and eight at night, or just ask Garrett or I to recite the entire movie to you. Seriously we could.

For the past two weeks Jack and I were enrolled in a "Mommy and me" swim class at the public pool near our house. The class was really great, except the days when it was only 55 degrees outside - I learned what Jack looks like with blue lips. We took the class with our buddies and it was fun to watch how both Jack and Jackson took to the water. Jackson was cute and played with his Mom; Jack, however, thinks he can actually swim and so for at least half of the class I was wrestling with him. The last day of swim class we were all invited to take our babes down the big water slide and I learned of Jack's immense distaste (this would be an understatement) of lifejackets. Hmm, makes me think he just cannot wait to go to the lake in August and wear one everyday!

We also bought the Pass of All Passes, along with 60,000 other Utah'ns, so we have spent a few afternoons at Seven Peaks Waterpark. It is always redonkulously crowded but my some of my favie peeps are there to swim with so it's worth it. Jack doesn't mind all the people, more kids to stare at and lots food laying around he can try to steal.

A few weekends ago Orem had their annual summer festival and since it was a carny, we were there. Hello! I'll be there if there are funnel cakes. But besides eating the delicious carny food we got to people watch, explore a firetruck and ambulance, and hit up the games. Garrett is the only person I know who actually loves playing carnival games (and isn't 12). But he is weirdly good at them so I guess it isn't a total waste of money? I mean who doesn't love winning a poorly made stuffed animal, carrying it around for hours and then eventually throwing it away?? However, at Orem Summerfest there was a game where you could win a goldfish! (That's better than a crappy stuffed animal, right?) Well we were really excited about this because Jack loves anything remotely related to Nemo. The game ended up being pretty easy and so we won our very own fish! Except 30 minutes later, once the excitement wore off, (and Jack dropped the bag on the ground 5 times) we realized that we had actually won a $30 trip to PetsMart to buy all the crap to keep this goldfish alive for a week. So we passed along goldie to better people than us.

Lastly, yesterday was Father's Day and we had a blast celebrating Gar. Well "celebrating" might be an exaggeration - we ate his favorite foods, he opened a few presents and he was allowed to watch the U.S. Open all weekend with no complaints from me. (But seriously, golf is totes boring.) I was a little bit thrilled about the presents we got for Gar, probably more than he was. Ha! But I must say, for someone who had never changed a diaper until J-Man came along, you are one fantastic Daddy.
