Remember my sister Hannah? And how she's leaving for the Philippines soon? In our church, whenever someone is about to leave on their mission they are given the opportunity to speak during a Sunday service. Cool, huh? Well the week she was scheduled to speak was June 16 - Father's Day.
As you can imagine, I was not going to miss this. So a little Texas trip was planned. (The that's kind of relative - a two week trip to Texas might not be "little" to everyone) Although I tried my hardest, I couldn't convince Garrett to come too. Between our trip to Cabo, our upcoming move, and having to pay for Jack's plane ticket I didn't have much of a chance. Stupid budget, you ruin everything.
Well since I knew we wouldn't be with Garrett on actual Father's Day, we had our own Father's Day the week before. Garrett insisted on no gifts, but that's just a request I cannot complete. Sors (but not sors). So instead of adding to Garrett's Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers T-shirt collection, Jack and I put together a "World's Greatest Pop" plater (and I totally stole the idea off Pinterest). I would have gone a little fancier on the sign, but I had already packed all my crafting supplies, so Jack's crayons and sketch book had to do. But lesbehonest, Garrett wouldn't have even noticed either way.
And turns out most every food that has the word 'pop' in it is candy. So yes, we had candy for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't judge - it was a holiday, okay!?

Is it bad that I didn't actually get any pictures of Garrett on Father's Day? Whoops.
Here's one for good measure.
Fast forward a week.
Now it's real Father's Day and Hannah's farewell in church. Our morning was sups crazy town. Somehow we all managed to get to church early, save lots of seats and look fabulous (z-snap). Billy and Lauren performed an ah-maz-ing musical number and then beautiful Hannie got up and gave a talk that left everyone in tears. She was wonderful. Like amazing. Those lucky little Filipinos.

That night, after the craziness (and let's make sure to put major emphasis on the crazy) died down, we celebrated our favorite Guh-Guh. He's kind of the bomb and we made sure he knew it. There were cards, presents, and Dairy Queen to-go! (I'm sure you're unfamiliar with what that is... it's just how Jennifer insists on ordering quarts of ice cream at the Dairy Queen drive-thru. Don't worry, it confuses the Dairy Queen employees too). It was pretty much a wonderful day.
