That Time When Jack Turned 1

Jack's second birthday is exactly one week from today, so I've decided to make this week's blog posts all about him. (I know, they're usually about him anyway...) But this also gives me an excuse to look back at old pictures and blog about what a cute baby he was. You'll love it.

I went a little cray with Jack's first birthday party. Whatever, your first baby only turns one once, right? Well that's good enough for me! Plus I see parties like this (and here's more) and I just can't imagine why you wouldn't want to throw a super-awesome themed party! I also tend to get a little obsessed with birthdays in general - just ask Garrett, he's on duty as soon as it is "my birthday week" (it's a thing, you can steal it). I decided Jack's birthday was going to be circus themed and once I started I couldn't stop. It was wonderful.

Since Jack was still a wee-babe he really didn't have any friends, so doing a birthday party in Utah would be been a dud. We couldn't really expect all our family and Texas friends to travel to Utah for a party, so we went there. While it was an added expense it was totally worth it. Not only did Jack get to have all his family at the party, I had the added help (my Mother) to get the party shopping, decorations and food done. Seriously though, it takes way longer then you would think to cut out paper for banners, signs and labels...

It seems crazy that an entire year has already gone by, but I think I'll feel this way at the end of every February. I'm in the process of planning party number two and hopefully it'll be just as fantastic at the first one.
